Comino Dives. Some vacation resorts offer resort diving courses lasting a day or two which offer beginners some very basic training in order to try out scuba diving. These are not certification programs. Full dive certification programs involve classroom work, exams, practical skills sessions at a pool and usually about four open water dives. The duration of the classroom work and pool sessions vary from a very intensive weekend (with advance reading) to once a week over several weeks. The open water dives will usually take two more days. Malta has neither rivers nor mountains, but is characterised by a series of low, flat-topped hills with terraced fields on their slopes. Malta's coastline is well indented with natural and man-made harbours, bays, creeks, several sandy beaches and rocky coves. Malta water temperature is a prime interest to all considering Malta diving. The Islands offer excellent diving for beginners, experienced, technical and even cave divers. With their natural harbours, bays, sheltered creeks, cliffs, reefs and scattering of wrecks, the Maltese Islands invite you to explore. The possibilities are endless. With Malta dive sites just a stone's throw away from each other, you will be able to explore a variety of underwater worlds.
The visibility averages a good 18m reaching up to 25m in the period of May to August - outside this time visibility often reach well into the 30m zone, making the sea around Malta and Gozo one of the best places to dive the Mediterranean.
