You don't know if it was that trip to Cyprus or the pictures your friends brought back from their SCUBA trip to the Red Sea that made you go for it, but you've finally decided to learn how to SCUBA dive - maybe your friends told you about Gozo boat dives, Malta boat dives, or Wreck diving in Malta and the idea of learning how to dive in Malta sounded like a great idea. Also, there are students who rapidly master the skills required to be certified as a SCUBA diver and those who struggle a bit to learn those same skills. But, all in all, beginner divers won't leave their classes ready to tackle a deep wreck dive on NITROX with strong current. All you need is a little bit of self-determination and good health with a minimum fitness level. The hardest part isn't taking the diving course. It's choosing the right school for you. From May - October the water temperature around Malta and Gozo is around 20 C and a 5mm wetsuit (with gloves and boots) is recommended. Gozo boat dives - Water temperatures are dropping down to 15 C from November - April and a 7mm semi-dry suit with long johns and jacket (giving 14mm on the core body) is recommended (don't forget hood, boots and gloves). If you are more comfortable in a drysuit, this is an excellent option.
