The Open Water Class - the first step and first contact of most people to SCUBA diving. Usually after a few class sessions and a few pool sessions, you are ready for your open water skill test with your instructors from Aquatica Dives. In the Open Water Class, you will learn the basics of SCUBA diving from setting up your dive equipment to how to react and solve basic emergencies under water. You will also learn basic SCUBA diving terms such as decompression, narc and safety stop. At the end of the class, you will be rewarded and certified to dive in open water up to 60ft.
The waters in Malta and Gozo are some of the most limpid and clear in the world. Visibility is excellent down to around 30 metres. So the Maltese Islands are a dream destination for underwater photography. There is not much in the way of large creatures to see, but the abundance of Octopus, Cuttlefish, Stonefish and other small creatures will keep most divers in Malta happy, particularly on night dives, plus read about Night dives Malta and Malta dive schools.
The first two steps in getting certified in scuba diving is to make sure that you are a reasonably proficient swimmer and you get medical clearance from your doctor to take up the sport. As for the swimming, you don't have to master every type of stroke. Scuba certification only requires that you are able to swim about 200 yards using any stroke you want and to be able to float or tread on water for about 10 minutes. Malta diving trips If you are in good general health and are comfortable in the water, then you should be able to scuba dive without any problems.
Malta diving trips. Some vacation resorts offer resort diving courses lasting a day or two which offer beginners some very basic training in order to try out scuba diving. These are not certification programs. Full dive certification programs involve classroom work, exams, practical skills sessions at a pool and usually about four open water dives. The duration of the classroom work and pool sessions vary from a very intensive weekend (with advance reading) to once a week over several weeks. The open water dives will usually take two more days.
